Simulation

This article describes how to perform Software In the Loop simulation, using X-Plane Flight Simulator.

Quick Start Guide

To quickly get started with SIL simulation (no hardware) you can follow these instructions:

More details

To start simulation manually, you usually need to launch three programs:

X-Plane 9 (32bit)

You may need to install additional 32-bit packges and libraries:

sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 libglu1-mesa:i386 libxrandr2:i386 libopenal1:i385

X-plane on separate machine

If you launch X-plane on a separate machine, you must connect it to your GCU PC via network interface.

The X-Plane plugin runs a TCP server on port 9088. When you start autopilot program 'shiva -s -u', you can specify IP address of the simulator plugin server and gcu with keys '-s' and '-u':

shiva -s192.168.0.5 -u192.168.0.7

Options

The autopilot program shiva has a number of options that can be used for simulation and analysis.
